SimpleCall Founder Makes 2013 British Power List
LONDON—Naufal Zamir, Founder and Managing Director of SimpleCall, a provider of high-quality affordable international calling, placed #3 in the Entrepreneur category of the 2013 British Bangladeshi Power 100 (BBPower100) list.
The list is a compilation of 100 British Bangladeshis across 20 categories. Individuals are assessed and chosen based on criteria including success, talent and the example they set for the community.
This is the second time Mr Zamir appears in this list of influencers — ranking #4 in the Entrepreneur and Business Brand category in 2012 — and the second list of its kind he has been named in. Mr Zamir appeared in the British Bangladeshi Who's Who publication in 2011 and 2012.Additionally, his A-Z telecoms termination company, Zamir Telecom, was ranked as one of the fastest-growing tech companies in the UK by Sunday Times' Tech Track 100 in 2011 and 2012.
“I am honoured to be included in a list of this calibre,” said Zamir. ”It is extremely important to feature members of our community in an effort to create inspiration and set an example for others — especially younger generations. To be a part of that very kind of publication is truly overwhelming.”
Inspiration is the exact goal of the list's founder, AbdalUllah, Tower Hamlets councillor. ”We aim to highlight and celebrate the strengths and dynamism of this often overlooked community.”
The 2013 list was revealed 22 January at the Commonwealth Room in House of Parliament. The event was hosted by Anne Main MP, Chair of all party group on Bangladesh, and attendees included Home Secretary Teresa May, MP, and ChukaUmunna, MP for Streatham and Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills.
